Brent Sutter hired as Devils coach

Brent Sutter smiles as he is introduced as the New Jersey Devils new head coach Friday, July 13, 2007 in Newark, N.J. Sutter, third youngest of seven Sutter brothers, six of whom played in the NHL, played on the 1982-83 Stanley Cup winning New York Islanders  team.

The first time Jeff Vanderbeek listened to Brent Sutter, the Devils’ owner knew he was the right man to return New Jersey to glory. Sutter spoke of discipline, commitment, effort and team, all the things that Vanderbeek and Devils president and general manager Lou Lamoriello believe make a Stanley Cup champion.
